"In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come following you."
Since coming together 10 years ago, Portland's Blitzen Trapper has picked up an enthusiastic following known for its explosive live performances and infectious roots-rock swagger. With a genre-bending indie-rock sound, that perhaps used to lean more towards the lo-fi eclectic mixture of Beck than the more currently noticeable rootsy folk-rock twang of The Band and the country-fried psychedelic riffs of The Allman Brothers - the six-man group clearly wears all its influences proudly. Their 2008 album Furr found its way to many year-end best-of lists, including Rolling Stone's and with good reason: Ramshackle rhythms and summery guitar solos permeate the album which combines a late-night jam-session quality with surprising concision. Blitzen Trapper are a welcomed fresh addition and should feel right at home at High Sierra.
