Lotus ia a five-piece instrumental ensemble that creates astonishingly danceable soundscapes in a variety of styles and tempos. The music is heavily influenced by electronic music such as jazzy-house and drum 'n' bass and is mixed with elements of jazz, funk, and some touches of dub and other ethnic musics from India, Africa, and Latin America. Lotus' seamless mixes and interlocking rhythms play like a DJ, but with a human touch. The fact that their sophisticated and accessible dance-inducing music can move from downtempo grooves or dubstep to improvisations with a heavier rock edge showcases their ability to react instantaneously to the crowd and the atmosphere of the moment and produces results that are different from night to night, from set to set -- and that appeals to a wide variety of folks as Lotus' legion of fans has grown by leaps and bounds since their last High Sierra appearance in 2006.
