"Free jazz at any cost"
Nels Cline is a guitarist's guitarist known for his improvisational work and for the diversity of his musical projects, as well as his use of effects pedals and looping devices, which give his music a distinct sound. The Nels Cline singers are an improvisational/ free jazz trio and even though their name suggests so there are no singers in the band. The group consists of Cline along with versatile bay area drummer Scott Amendola and bassist Devin Hoff. Cline, one who is always drawn to the adventurous and avant-garde has played with the likes of jazz bassist Charlie Haden, saxophonist Tim Berne, noise-rockers Sonic Youth, Mike Watt and Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins in the group Banyan and others. Cline was a member of Geraldine Fibbers a band that fused American roots music and blues-influenced punk. We've wanted to have Nels Cline in the mix at High Sierra for years and relish the opportunity to feature the high level talent of he and his bandmates.
