Yesterday, we announced that Wordsauce is the winner of the 2018 High Sierra Band Contest! They worked so tirelessly to spread the word and make sure they got the votes needed to earn the spot and we’re honored to see a band work so hard to join us!
What we didn’t mention at the time though was the extremely tight margin with which they won. With nearly 5000 collective likes, when the clock struck 1pm they were a mere 228 votes ahead of Diggin Dirt after several days of jockeying the “lead” back and forth not unlike an NBA championship game. It was a scenario we didn’t anticipate and in the final hours it became pretty clear to us that the love, support and effort put forth by both bands was pretty well-matched. As such, we made the decision yesterday morning before the end result was even known that regardless of the final vote count, both bands had earned their spot on the Vaudeville Stage.
And on that note, we’re excited to say…..Arcata pack your bags—Diggin Dirt is coming to High Sierra Music Festival, too! Performance times will be announced when we release the schedule.
Congrats again to both bands—we’ll see you in Quincy!
We’d also like to thank all the finalists who worked hard to spread the word. We believe in these bands! Please be sure to support Luke Mitrani, Justin Schaefers & the Blind Barbers and Caitlin Jemma — they’re all making great music!
